We Know Joe

The Greene County School System’s business, as our mission statement says, is to educate, inspire, challenge, and support students to become college and career ready. It involves goal setting and putting workable solutions in place and executing in order to produce real, measurable results for our students. That’s my focus and why I’m excited to continue the work set before us.

Accomplishments

Reduced Absenteeism

Improved School Safety

In order to prepare students to be college and career ready, we must keep kids in school. Joe has been instrumental in tackling the absenteeism issue. He helped lead the effort to revise and improve the Greene County Truancy Reduction Protocol, which addresses and aims to decrease truancy in the county. It implements effective measures to constantly monitor school attendance and enacts various means to keep students in school.

Students must be safe, and feel safe, in order to learn. To this end, Joe has worked to improve school safety. He made it a top priority to work with colleagues to update school plans and ensure law enforcement was made aware of changes in order to decrease response time if an incident were to occur. Mr. Bashore worked to install radio communication devices that enable bus drivers and key personnel to communicate. His plan saved taxpayer money by utilizing the county's pre-existing radio system.

Priorities

Joe's focus going forward is to execute the initiatives of the Strategic Plan created by the Board. This plan of action is intended to make significant and enduring improvements to the school system. These improvements focus on teaching and learning, the culture and climate of the district’s learning environments, and system-wide operational effectiveness. To reach these goals, action strategies have been put into place including strengthening involvement and communication between parents, schools, and the community.
